What the panel promises, and what the rack is doing
The two zones are set independently of one another, one for reds and one for whites, and that is the whole point of a cabinet built this way. The figure lit on the front is the setting, though, and not the temperature the bottles are lying in. The measurement that settles it is a thermometer standing in a glass of water on the rack itself, left there for half a day.
Give any adjustment a full day to arrive as well. Wine moves slowly and so does the air around it.
What the bluff does to the machinery
Salt comes in at the base grille along with everything else the room is holding, and it settles on the coil, on the fan and in the pan beneath them. None of it corrodes anything overnight. The fan simply slows, the coil sheds a little less heat each season, and a cabinet that holds its setting on a cool morning starts missing it on a warm afternoon.
Catching that early matters, because a fan motor is an ordinary part fitted on an ordinary visit, while a wine cabinet left to run warm through a summer is a different conversation about the bottles inside it. Clearing dust off the grille is an owner’s job; pressing on the thin aluminium fins while doing it is the one way to make the whole thing worse.
